Tomatoes
Tomatoes are great sources of vitamins C, A and K. They also contain lycopene which is an anti-carcinogenic that studies have shown to help in preventing cancer.
Why make your own pizza sauce?
Making your own pizza sauce at home is quick and easy with just a few ingredients and cuts back on sodium and possible inflammatory oils, like soybean oil, that some brands use to preserve their sauce for a longer shelf life.
How to store leftovers
- To Store: Store any leftover sauce in a glass storage container. Sauce will last up to 2 weeks.
- To Freeze: Sauce can be frozen in a well sealed freezer bag or I suggest using these super handy Souper Cube containers. Ice cube trays will work too, you will just have smaller portions.
- To Reheat: from fresh, use as is on another pizza or try it as a dip to these delicious Zucchini Pizza Rolls! From frozen, place Souper Cube or ice cubes in a pan to warm. Drain off any excess liquid.
