Fresh homemade pesto is soooo stinkin’ delicious! I love having fresh herbs around it’s so rewarding to pick fresh herbs and bring them right to your table to add flavor to your homemade dishes. This is a 10 minute pesto sauce that is super tasty and can be frozen to use year round.
What you need to make homemade pizza sauce
- Fresh basil
- Fresh parsley
- Walnuts
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh garlic cloves
- Lemon juice
- Olive oil

How to store leftovers
- To Store: Store any leftover sauce in a glass storage container. Sauce will last up to 2 weeks.
- To Freeze: I like to freeze my pesto in ice cube trays. It’s almost perfectly proportioned and it will keep up to a year or more.
- To Reheat: Add fresh or frozen pesto to a pan and let it warm up melting in to any dish you add it to.

Homemade Basil & Parsley Pesto Sauce
- Prep Time: 5 Minutes
- Cook Time: 10 Minutes
- Yields: 1 Cup
Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped fresh basil & parsley
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 TB lemon juice
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp red pepper chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a food processor and blend until well combined.
- Season to taste.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- I had more basil than I did parsley so I chopped them up together to equal about 2 cups. You can use half of each or just use all basil or all parsley, depending on your preferred taste.
- You can substitute walnuts for pumpkin seeds, pine nuts or cashews.
- Try mixing nuts for a fun twist!
